"To create new districts, well served by shared transport links and combining housing, business and facilities".
Bruno Fortier, town planning architect for Mantes-Université mixed development zone
Around the conversion of the Sulzer great hall, a work symbolic of industrial heritage, Mantes-Université demonstrates the rebirth of an area: a 1-2 hectare industrial estate, 1,200 homes including 20% social housing, the technological university centre for the
Mantois (developing 24,000m² of total floor area, it will in time accommodate almost 1,500 students), a business and conference centre and a metropolitan swimming pool.
Mantes-Université is developed across the communes of Mantes-la-Ville, Buchelay and Mantes-la-Jolie. The Public Development Authority for Mantois Seine Aval (EPAMSA) is its contracting authority. The Communauté d’Agglomération de Mantes en Yvelines,
the State, the Ile de France region and the Yvelines Departmental Council support the operation.
As part of the development of the Mantes-Université district, the first development program will be developed on areas located close to the Ecole Nationale de Musique (National Music School). The group of operators Vinci Immobilier / Interconstruction with Christian Hauvette architect and the AMA Agency / Thierry Melot, have been selected with a view to the quality of the architectural work for this district which marks the entrance to the town. This project of 25,000 m² plans to build around 260 homes, an office building with shops on the ground floor and a crèche.
A building permit may be filed in the 1st quarter of 2008 for works to begin in summer 2008.
The 2nd consultation is related to a plot of land located in the commune of Buchelay for a housing program of 110 properties.
The 3rd consultation will concern an operation for offices located close to the station at Mantes.
