Transport : objectif 2009

Economic and urban development implies a strong improvement in the transport network. This approach, new on the scale of a residential area the size of Seine Aval, must make it possible to establish a genuine service suited to the needs of the inhabitants and businesses. A coherent strategy is set up to meet this challenge.

In the very short term, better services :

Between 2008 and 2010 a regular service will set up on the two main lines which serve the area (Paris-Mantes via Poissy and Paris-Mantes via Conflans) with, depending on the case, a direct train and a slow train every 15 or 20 minutes. By 2015, €30M is has been forecast to increase the number of trains on the line. By 2009, the TGV linking Normandy to the east of France must serve Seine Aval at Mantes and Conflans Sainte Honorine. These trains will make it possible to cross the region and the country from west to east, passing through the north of Paris and the Roissy CDG station.

In the medium term, ambitious projects taken on

To deal with the increase in population and jobs which will accompany the development of the Seine Aval area, new rail capacities will be created. The Departmental and Regional councils have decided to allocate €200M to the Grande Ceinture Ouest (Western trunk line from Paris). This tram-train link will connect the line A of the RER in the north (Achères-Poissy and Saint-Germain en Laye) with the C line of the RER in the south (in the Saint-Cyr sector), ensuring a quality connection with the Paris Mantes SNCF line via Poissy. For the most part, the project will use existing railways.

The Syndicate of Transports of Ile-de-France (STIF) (transport department) has just announced an agreement for studies into the extension of Eole to the west, Haussmann Saint Lazare to La Défense, then Nanterre and Seine Aval. The opportunity to create the Seine Aval La Défense link in the first phase forms part of the hypotheses envisaged.

An overall vision

The quality of the transport service relies not only on the trains but also on the bus services. From today, the A14 express service makes it possible to effectively connect the area’s main centres to La Défense.

Under the responsibility of the STIF, a complete requirement study is being undertaken which will enable a genuine cohesive collective transport service to be structured.
